Flights for Flown

Detail of one of three monotypes from a series Flown that will feature in my forthcoming exhibition at National Trust Greenway, near Brixham. It was made by tracing the flights of passing birds directly on to the window, then using the window surface as a printing plate.

  1. Hi, I came across your work through Tracey and I think this is the most beautiful image. What kind of bird was it? Does the species change the patterns much?

  2. Ooops, I only just spotted your comment Lizzie. Sorry. These were mostly gulls and pigeons. I'm not a bird watcher as such, but I have noticed that different species do indeed make different patterns. Looking back at my drawings I can usually spot the typical tracks of gulls, blackbirds, swallows, great tits and even the occasional swan or buzzard!
