Naughty and nice

Very pleased with the install of HEIST, even though the exhibition wasn't an end in itself, just part of a longer (and possibly ongoing) process. We've had about 70 visitors so far, though not everyone likes or gets the show - which is difficult, but inevitable.
Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter. 10am to 5pm daily, until 28th October 2011.

Stamp of approval

12000 Blessings Revisions and Propositions
Much as I admire many of the professional artists in Exeter, they practise in an area that's not my own. With its annual parade of abstract painters, potters, mosaicists, jewellers, printmakers and textile artists, Exeter Open Studios simply underlines the fact I don't belong here - and seems to tell me that perhaps I should move to Plymouth or Bristol.

So I was delighted to see that each copy of the 2011 Exeter Open Studios brochure carries a unique stamp artwork by a new coalition of Exeter artists Revisions and Propositions (Sarah Bennett, Andy Klunder and Volkhardt Muller). Their website indicates that they may soon be investigating and repurposing empty spaces in Exeter. Look forward to seeing what happens next.
